SOS OUTREACH: PAVONES, COSTA RICA

AUGUST 8, 2016-AUGUST 22, 2016

In the duration of two weeks, Kaylia and her colleagues partnered with a non-profit organization (SOS Outreach) to promote sustainable community development. They helped construct a new classroom, painted an anti-bullying mural, fund-raised for school supplies, and engaged with community members in the beautiful city of Pavones.

NICKLAUS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

SEPTEMBER 2015-AUGUST 2016

Being a Bedside Buddies and Nurse PICU volunteer, Kaylia was able to provide relief through distraction by engaging in fun games with patients, assisting them with homework, and sought to comfort them to the best of my abilities. She worked with patients ranging from 2 weeks old to 18 years old in various intensive care units throughout the hospital.

SPRING/FALL 2017

In January 2017, Kaylia partnered with a friend to mobilize a human rights organization at FIU. The purpose of the organization is wide-ranging, it includes providing an avenue whereby the opinions and ideas of human right activities may be expressed, promoting awareness to the FIU community about current human rights issues ongoing worldwide, and to advocate for equal and inalienable rights for all.
