Youth Co-op Inc., January 2018 - Present
Program Policy & Advocacy Coordinator
-Worked with immigrants and asylum seekers from Latin American countries to help with the process of resettlement into American society.
-Assisted with the launching of operations within the Immigration and Citizenship Unit, including creating policies and procedures for the Citizenshipworks Program.
-Translated documents from English to Spanish for immigrants and asylum seekers in order to find out clients eligibility for the myriad of programs offered by Youth Co-Op Inc. (YCI).
-Marketed the programs offered within the Immigration and Citizenship Unit by using multiple social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
-Assisted with the preparation of refugee cases by creating case packets that translated credible fear interviews and conducted research about the government the client was mistreated by, seeking to describe grave human rights abuses.

Broward County's Public Defender's Office August 2018 - December 2018

-Conducted research and analyzed different law articles and sources, including statutes, to gather information for investigations.
-Entered client information into a company-based software program.
-Had daily courtroom experience with one on one client contact and visits to the jails the inmates were held custody in.
-Observed and met with clients for depositions snd took statements in order to prepare for law proceedings.
-Performed clerical tasks such as filing, scanning, appointment scheduling, etc. for multiple attorney's within the office.

Created educational PowerPoint presentations on two campaigns; sexual & reproductive rights and refugee & migrant rights.

Partnered with Amnesty International Miami Chapter and colleagues to address grave human rights abuses locally and nationally by mobilizing public pressure through demonstrations, letter writing, and conducting research.

Designed a social media page tailored to the campaigns we worked on in order to educate everyone on global human rights issues.

Held group meetings that focused on members expressing their own concerns with the “Travel Ban” issued in January 2017.

Showed documentary screenings on the issue of the growing limited access to abortion clinics across the United States.

-
Taught women empowerment and computer classes to primary students with an average of fifteen students per class with two other colleagues.

Created and implemented engaging lesson plans on sexual education for sixth graders.

Used positive reinforcement methods to keep students engage such as, creating a point system where students who participated the most in class would win a prize.

Hosted an award ceremony with my colleagues at the end of the internship with certificates of completion in women empowerment and sexual education.
